A Message from the Clerk

Welcome to the First Presbyterian Church of Owensboro web site!

We are glad you are visiting; and we hope that your interest will grow to include a visit to our church services and other activities as well.  Our congregation is made up of over 500 caring individuals who strive daily to be better Christians.  We range in age from infants to older adults… most of us are quite active.  We strive, with good success I believe, to provide a friendly, hospitable atmosphere in all our church functions.  Our members include people from all walks of life: we are infants and toddlers, we are students and teachers, we are mothers and fathers, we are brothers and sisters, we are clerks and store owners, we are lawyers and judges, we are laborers and foremen, we are nurses and doctors, we are financial advisers and bankers; we include just about every type of person, personality, and vocation.  But most of all, when we meet together in worship or in play, we are a loving family.  We care deeply for each other in day-to-day interaction as well as with an organized committee structure.

With our well grounded church family life, a great many members of our congregation find satisfaction in community service in many different organizations.  You'll find us as workers, committee chairpersons, and even presidents of service groups throughout the area.  You have met with us in Rotary or the Optimist Club.  You have worked with us to build a Habitat for Humanity house.  You have volunteered with us in our schools, Girls Inc., Grandma's Corner, or the Daniel Pitino shelter.  You have joined us on the board of the Botanical Garden, the Davis County Public Library, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, or the Owensboro Area Museum.  These are just a few areas representing our avocations.

I'm sure you've met one or more of us during your wanderings in Owensboro.  We would like nothing better than to get to know you and welcome you to our family.  Please come see us soon!

Janice Odom
Clerk of the Session, 2012
